Atomfall Barter Guide

Mastering the Barter System in Atomfall:

Our Atomfall Barter Guide. In Atomfall, the post-apocalyptic landscape of Cumberland has led to the emergence of a barter system, replacing traditional currency. This system requires players to trade items directly with NPCs (non-playable characters), each trader has unique preferences and values. Understanding this system is a must for acquiring essential resources, weapons, and tools to survive and thrive in atomfall.

Understanding the Barter System with our Atomfall Barter Guide

In atomfall the traders are marked on the map with a set of scales. The barter system operates on direct item exchanges without the use of money. When initiating a trade with an NPC, you’ll encounter a barter menu displaying:

  • Your Inventory (Left Side): Items you can offer for trade.
  • Trader’s Inventory (Right Side): Items available for you to acquire.
  • Balance Scale (Center): Indicates the trade’s fairness.

The balance scale helps determine the trade’s equity:

  • Green and Balanced: The trade is fair, and the NPC will accept it.
  • Leaning Towards Your Side: You’re offering more value than you’re receiving; the NPC may accept or reject the trade based on their preferences.
  • Leaning Towards the NPC’s Side: You’re offering less value than you’re receiving; the NPC will likely reject the trade.

To achieve favorable trades, it’s essential to understand each NPC’s valued items and adjust your offerings accordingly. Its also worth noting that if your backpack is full you wont be able to trade.

Identifying Valuable Barter Items

Not all items hold equal value in the eyes of traders. Valuable items typically include:

  • Upgraded Weapons: Enhanced firearms and melee weapons.
  • Healing Items: Medkits, bandages, and other health-restoring items.
  • Explosive Throwables: Molotov cocktails, grenades, and similar explosives.

Conversely, items like Burn Salve are considered less valuable.

Strategic Trading Tips

  1. Assess Trader Preferences: Each NPC has unique likes and dislikes. For example, Molly Jowett favors Molotov cocktails, while Reg Stansfield highly values Cornish Pasties and Slices of Cake.
  2. Offer Balanced Trades: Use the balance scale as a guide to ensure your offerings align with the trader’s interests, facilitating equitable exchanges.
  3. Leverage High-Value Items: Save items that traders highly value for specific NPCs to maximize trade benefits.
  4. Utilize the Metal Detector: This tool helps uncover hidden caches containing valuable resources, enhancing your trading potential.
  5. Manage Inventory Wisely: Regularly assess your inventory to identify surplus items suitable for trade, ensuring you carry essentials while maximizing trade opportunities.
